Synopsis: Detonator Orgun Tomoru Shindo lives in a sleepy placid world of peace, though his world is more than a little surreal and at times scarily so. Through Tomoru's eyes nothing new ever happens in Earth's future society, though this is all about to change, for the worse. Renegade Evoluder, a race of bio- mechanical beings, Orgun is on the run from his own people, exiled for his beliefs and hunted down for eventual termination. The Evoluder believe in living out the life of warriors past by following fallen heroes down the paths they once took. The Evoluder are aggressive and hostile in nature and have named Earth as their next target for invasion in their effort to dominate the galaxy. Orgun though has seen more than enough death and destruction, instead of following the wishes of his people's leader Lady Mhiku, Orgun realises the war crimes committed by the Evoluder and abandons his past to help save the lives of the people of Earth. Before he is able to reach Earth to warn its inhabitants of their forthcoming crisis, however, Orgun is set upon by a squad of Evoluder sent to track and destroy the renegade. Despite seeing off his pursuers, Orgun is too battle torn to continue his fight and is taken out in an epic battle on the surface of the Earth's Moon. Though before his death, Orgun is able to finish transmitting his schematics to the people of Earth. Orgun's transmission is received by the Earth's Defence Force, EDF, who entrust the alien data to the super computer I-ZACK linked to build 'n bit whom, under the supervision of Professor Michi Kanzaki, unknowingly rebuild Orgun. Whilst Orgun's body is rebuilt deep within the EDF headquarters, Tomoru begins to experience strange visions of the runaway Evoluder whilst engaging in artificial reality dreams courtesy of PASFU software. In his dreams Tomoru hears Orgun calling him, wishing for him to link up with the armoured solider in order to protect not someone, but something, something long since lost to the Evoluder. With her ability to foresee the future, Lady Mhiku learns of Orgun's resurrection from the dead and has Lord Zoa dispatch a scout to the planet Earth to track down and destroy the runaway. The scout arrives in City 5, or rather plummets into the sea adjacent, where it's immediately engaged by a squad of Birdmen lead by Commander Youko Mitsuragi. Although the Birdmen put up a brave fight, their weapons are useless against the alien invader, Youko's squad are unable to prevent the scout from reeking havoc on the city as it savagely carries out its search for Orgun. Sensing the imminent danger to the city, Orgun activates and breaks out of the EDF labs in search of a pilot, in particular Tomoru. With the city under attack and in partial ruin its inhabitants are directed towards the underground shelters, Tomoru is more interested in getting a closer look at the alien invader though as opposed to playing it safe. In his rush to do so, however, he is almost run down by Michi who, aided by I-ZACK, is attempting to track the alien. With the inner city closed off due to the destruction, both Tomoru and Michi climb to the top of a near by skyscraper to get a better view of the surrounding devastation, a bad idea, however, as they are greeted on top of the building by the alien. Youko catches up with and engages the alien, though to no avail as her Birdman is effortlessly crushed by the alien's claws forcing her to eject. Although her attack fails, Youko does, however, manage to buy enough time in order for Orgun to show up. With Orgun's arrival, Tomoru finds himself inexplicably drawn to humanity's saviour and with no time to waste Tomoru is molecularly disassembled and incorporated into Orgun's body. With Orgun back from the dead and piloted by Tomoru, time is definitely up for the Evoluder scout. After the battle Tomoru is released from Orgun's grasp, though all that was so clear in Tomoru's mind now begins to fade like waking up from a dream. As a result he's only able to recall a little of Orgun's past, though despite the chaos brought to the city, knowing Orgun to be on humanity's side is enough to instil some hope within the inhabitants of Earth. The total recall of Orgun's memory partially reveals the Evoluder's history, though the rest of the champion fighter's memory seems to be fragmented. Whilst the EDF attempts to assess their opponents, Kumi Jefferson, a prophet whom predicted the initial alien invasion, has a new vision, she predicts that something else is headed towards the Earth. Soon enough this is proved to be the case as champion Evoulders Rangu and Leave arrive on Earth to succeed in carrying out the wishes of Lady Mhiku where the previous Evoluder scout failed. After plummeting into the sea Leave attempts to seek out Orgun whilst Rangu staves off futile attacks from Commander Youko's Birdmen squadron and useless military air strikes. Leave, having tracked down Orgun's whereabouts, informs Rangu of the renegade's location. Rangu then proceeds to head in the direction of the EDF headquarters leaving a trail of mass devastation in his wake. Before he can reach his destination, however, Rangu stumbles across Tomoru who is hurriedly attempting to help a young woman and her baby vacate the area. Sensing Orgun's life data within Tomoru, Rangu prepares to open fire on the humans, but with the woman and her baby in imminent danger, Tomoru wastes no time in calling Orgun to their aid. Sure enough Orgun appears in an instant and both humanity's saviour and Tomoru link up ready to take on Rangu, personal bodyguard to Lady Mhiku. Little does Orgun realise, but Rangu is capable of reading the thoughts of his opponents, consequently Orgun is thrown around and generally wasted during the early stages of the confrontation. Whilst the battle rages, Leave comes to realise what Orgun is fighting to protect. She too understands the nature of Orgun's fight and so aids the armoured warrior in his fight against Rangu though at a price. Leave sacrifices her own existence in order to take out Rangu, though she does so having at least fought on humanity's side. City 5 is trashed on an epic scale, but this is nothing according to Kumi's latest prediction. She foresees that the Evoluder's home world, a huge mobile battle planet, is headed straight towards the Earth. Slowly Michi and I-ZACK start to piece together the complete history surrounding the Evoluder. When a team was put together many years ago and sent to investigate the gravity well around the planet Cygnus, the mission ended in failure as communications with the team was lost. When the team failed to return they were presumed dead. Apparently the phenomenal gravametric forces that the team was exposed to caused them to evolve at an astounding rate. In short the Evoluder are humanity's ancestors. In order to survive Cygnus's hostile environment the Evoluder developed a solid armour which they used to wrap them selves in. Then for reasons unknown they started to roam the galaxy repeating acts of violence and destruction. Orgun returned, however, many years later to protect that which the Evoluder had given up in order to survive, that is their human form. Realising that he alone can't take on the combined might of his own people, Orgun betrays the Evoluder by giving Michi the data on his people's technology, their offensive and defensive capabilities and most importantly, the schematics for their solid armour. Michi then uses this data to construct a prototype combat suit giving the EDF a realistic chance to fight back in the forthcoming apocalyptic battle for the Earth. With the day of reckoning only a month away, the people of Earth pull together all their resources in an effort to mass-produce Michi's new armoured suit configuration. The stage for the final showdown is set as the Evoluder home world smashes its way through Earth's defences deployed throughout the solar system. All that remains now in the path of the Evoluder's conquest of yet another world are the EDF's newly constructed solid armour units, that and just one other thing - Detonator Orgun.
